Context

An independent charity needed a website that could communicate its work clearly to multiple audiences across the region.

The Woodsmith Foundation is an independent charity dedicated to creating a lasting legacy in the boroughs of Scarborough, Redcar & Cleveland, and the North York Moors National Park.

The website needed to communicate a range of charitable initiatives, funding activity, and community programmes in a way that was structured and accessible, for local communities, partners, funders, and the wider public.

It also needed to be straightforward for the internal team to manage, so that content could be updated as programmes evolved without requiring ongoing development support.

The challenge

Communicating complex charitable activity clearly while keeping information manageable for internal teams.

Presenting a range of community initiatives, funding programmes, and organisational activity in a structured, accessible way.

Supporting transparency and public information across multiple audiences with different levels of familiarity with the organisation.

Managing varied content across programmes, updates, and news without creating an ongoing maintenance burden.

Providing a CMS that internal team members could use confidently without technical support.

Structuring content so that different audiences could find what they needed: funders, community members, and partners.

Building a platform that could support long-term use as the Foundation's programmes and activities developed.
