A look back on lockdown - school meals

During half-term in the last week in October 2020, Askew Brook partnered with several other local businesses to fund free lunches for students. Children who would normally be eligible for school meals were provided a free lunch from restaurants and cafès across Scarborough. In the end, children struggling with food insecurity were served over 700 free meals during the half-term week.

We’d like to thank Love Brew Cafè, Picnic, The Byways, Paradise in a Slice, Gallows Close Centre, and Filey Deli for their generous participation. In addition, we’d like to thank Care Improvement Associates, Anglo American, Murphy Utilities, Fortus and Yay Coffee for their financial contributions. All of these groups stepped up at a uniquely precarious moment in time to combat child hunger in our community.
